About me

Emma has been hooked on all things 'travel' since the age of 14, when she would sneakily rip pages out of ageing copies of National Geographic in the school library to add to her travel scrapbook. 

 

A few years on (ahem), she's just as passionate about the industry and has been working as a full-time freelance travel journalist since 2011, after spending six years as Commissioning Editor at respected guidebook publisher Bradt Travel Guides. 

 

Twice the recipient of the BGTW Travel Writer of the Year award, she now writes for a diverse range of publications that commission her to produce lively, accurate copy perfectly tailored to their readership and illustrated with high-quality photographs. She specialises in remote destinations and responsible-, adventure-based tours and works hard to find fresh, original angles.

Editing

As a trusted editor, she tightens, restructures and refines brochure copy, website information and prose for high-profile tour operators, publishers and event holders such as AITO.com, Expert Africa and Travel Photographer of the Year.

 

Broadcasting and events

She's an experienced speaker and regular travel-writing panellist for consumer travel shows and workshops. She has featured on BBC Radio 4's From Our Own Correspondent and presented for TV.
